Two practices we have followed for years — and keep collecting

Abstract canvas in blue and yellow strokes

Meera Krishnan

Colour-field abstraction · Baroda

Meera paints the way monsoon light behaves on the Narmada — in broad, weather-like bands of ultramarine, cadmium and raw canvas. Trained in Baroda and later in London, she works slowly: most canvases take a season, and she rarely titles them until they leave the studio.

Her large colour-field works anchor living rooms and hotel lobbies across three continents. Copperleaf holds a rotating selection of her canvases and a small suite of works on paper.

Arjun Mehta

Equestrian oils · Pune

Arjun grew up around the Pune racing stables, and horses have never left his sketchbooks. His oils — chestnut runners, dusk fairs, quiet stable portraits — are painted from life, often finished trackside in a single sitting and refined over weeks in the studio.

Collectors come to him for movement: the sense that the animal might step out of the frame. His gallery pieces at Copperleaf include large-format oils and a celebrated series of monsoon gallops.
